Spindles emerging from furnace #2 moments before quenching
Massive earth-moving machinery used in resource projects like mines and the Alberta oil sands must be extremely robust to operate reliably day-in
day-out.
Aberfoyle has been heat treating and quenching a critical part of the drive coupling in these types of trucks for a customer. These large
castings require heat treatment at temperatures near 1500°F followed by an immediate quench and tempering process to ensure the maximum level of toughness
is imparted in these components.
We have been using furnace #2 for this job due to it's high temperature capacity and the large quench tanks that can
accommodate these types of parts.
